Indonesia still in jeopardy

　The latest earthquake devastated the Indonesian island of Nias.
　On 17 March, a team of seismologists published a paper in Nature that attempted to evaluate the knock-on effects of the 26 December earthquake. Eleven days later, another horrific earthquake struck, almost exactly where they said it would.

　3月17日「ネイチャー」紙に、地震学者のチームが12月26日の地震のノックオン効果の影響を試算した論文を掲載していた。その１１日後、彼らが起こるだろうと予測したのとほとんど同じ場所で、大地震が発生した。

　Ducks can be infected with the H5N1 virus without becoming obviously sick.
　Reports that a 26-year-old Vietnamese male nurse has tested positive for bird flu have added to concerns that the virus may gain the ability to pass between humans. But health officials have yet to determine exactly how the man contracted the illness.

　アヒルが明らかな症状もなく H5N1ウィルスに感染している。
　２６歳のヴェトナム人男性看護士が鳥インフルエンザ検査で陽性になったという報告は、そのウィルスが人間間で感染する能力を獲得したのではないかという懸念をもたらしている。しかし、健康保険当局は、もうその男性がどのように感染したかその経路を正確にしなけらばならない。
